# Valentin Galfré

> Valentin Galfré is a software engineer from Santa Fe, Argentina: Staff Engineer at Coderhouse, ex Mercado Libre, building side projects after hours.

I am Valentin Galfré, a software engineer born in 2002 in Santa Fe, Argentina, where I still live and work remotely. I build software end to end: system design, APIs, infrastructure and the final interaction. I like hard problems, fast systems and being measurably better than yesterday.
Since September 2025 I am Staff Engineer at Coderhouse, one of Latin America's largest edtech platforms, where I lead platform engineering and AI. The biggest piece of that work is a multi-agent system that generates thousands of educational resources a day and powers about 90% of the platform's content, serving 500,000+ students and 50,000+ concurrent users at peak.

- [A content engine that writes 90% of Coderhouse](https://galfrevn.com/work/coderhouse): Coderhouse is one of Latin America's largest edtech platforms, with 500k active students. Since September 2025 I lead its platform engineering and AI initiatives, and the biggest piece of that is the system that now produces most of the platform's educational content.
- [Microfrontends for Mercado Libre's retail platform](https://galfrevn.com/work/mercadolibre): From April 2024 to September 2025 I worked on frontend platform engineering on Mercado Libre's first-party retail team, the direct retail experience on Latin America's highest-traffic e-commerce platform. I was the most experienced engineer on the team and its technical referent, not its manager.
- [From junior to tech lead at Crombie](https://galfrevn.com/work/crombie): Crombie is a software factory: many client projects running at once, each with its own stack, deadline and expectations. I joined in March 2022 as the most junior engineer in the room and left in April 2024 as a Technical Leader running teams of up to 8 engineers for international clients.
- [What is next](https://galfrevn.com/writing/what-is-next): Not a plan. The direction I would like to be walking: agents that touch the world, a product that stays honest, a degree I am going to finish.
- [Searching for clothes with a photo](https://galfrevn.com/writing/photo-search): How pilcha finds every garment in a photo and returns the closest thing an Argentine store sells right now. Mostly plumbing.
- [Invisible engineering](https://galfrevn.com/writing/invisible-engineering): The best software is the one nobody talks about. Why excellence that goes unnoticed is the hardest to sell and the most valuable to build.
- [Code now has two readers](https://galfrevn.com/writing/two-readers): Humans and models read the same file. What changes in how we name, shape and document code when the second reader has no context and no coffee.
- [Competing against yesterday](https://galfrevn.com/writing/competing-against-yesterday): Being competitive without stepping on anyone. The only useful comparison is with your own system from last week.
- [Staff Engineer without a manual](https://galfrevn.com/writing/staff-engineer-without-a-manual): Nobody in a startup tells you what a Staff Engineer does. How I defined the role: platform, AI, vendor decisions, and the hard conversations nobody else wanted.
- [Microfrontends that let you sleep](https://galfrevn.com/writing/microfrontends-that-let-you-sleep): What it takes for eight teams to deploy independently on Latin America's highest-traffic platform without waking anyone up.
- [Performance on surfaces the whole country sees](https://galfrevn.com/writing/performance-the-whole-country-sees): Optimizing when every millisecond is measured in sales. Method over heroics on Mercado Libre's busiest pages.
- [The tests nobody asked for](https://galfrevn.com/writing/tests-nobody-asked-for): Joining a software factory as the most junior engineer and fixing the thing nobody had time for: every release broke something that used to work.
